Croeso i'r Meithrin

Welcome to Nursery!

  • Morning Nursery sessions run from 9.00am until 11.45am. Afternoon sessions run from 1.05pm to 3.05pm. Please ensure you notify the school if your child is being picked up by someone other than those listed on the general information form handed in at the beginning of the academic year.

  • Clothing:

We ask that you check that your child’s name is clearly written on their jumper, bag, coat, hat etc to help us ensure everybody comes home with all their belongings.

In the winter please send your child in with a warm coat, gloves and a hat. Please send in labelled sun cream and sun hats in the summer.

We try and spend as much time as possible outside, even during the Welsh winter! We have wet weather gear available in school.

The children do not require a P.E kit in the Nursery.

  • There are many wonderful toys and resources for the children in class to play with in class and the removal of a personal toy can be very distressing and disruptive. Please could you ensure your child leaves their precious toys at home.

  • Snack / Amsert snac:

The children have milk and snack daily. We are a health promoting school and therefore offer the children a range of healthy snacks throughout the week.

  • Routine:

One of the key messages of the Foundation Phase is developing independence in children. After a few weeks, once the children have settled into their new school, they will take responsibility for finding their peg and hanging their coat and bag. There is many staff available to support the children if necessary. We also ask that the children give their snack money to the adult on the slope on a Monday morning/afternoon where possible.

Full time places:

  • Please ensure you have applied for your child’s full-time provision and/or if there are younger siblings at home please apply for their part-time and full time places.

We hope you find this information useful.

Thank you for your continued support; we look forward to a fun filled year ahead!

Summer Term

General information

As the weather gets warmer please send your child with a sun hat which is clearly labelled. As the children take jumpers and cardigans off often, please ensure these are clearly labelled also. We often have a pile of red cardigans and jumpers left over at the end of a session!

Please can the children not wear open toe sandals as it can be a hazard in nursery.

For the first half term our topic is called ' How does this building stay up?' It is all about different types of buildings and construction.

The second half term topic is called ' How many pebbles on the beach?' This is about all things to do with the beach.
