Yellow Class

 Welcome to Yellow Class!

Real Life Superheroes

The children in year one have been learning all about superheroes. This week we have had the emergency services in to tell us all about how they help people everyday. We had a great time meeting all the real life superheroes.

Reading

We place a great importance on helping your child become an independent reader.  Please ensure that you return your child's reading record to school everyday and read with your child at night. Books will be sent home when your child has read in school and are confident to read independently. Children that read regularly at home make better progress with their reading. We would appreciate you commenting on their reading each time you hear them read.  If your child’s reading record has been lost, please let us know and it can be replaced at a cost of £2.00.

P.E.

Children will have P.E at least once a week, depending on the weather. We suggest that P.E kit be brought in on a Monday and left in school (leggings/tracksuit bottoms, T-shirt and trainers).

YELLOW class PE will be on a THURSDAY.

School Uniform

Please make sure that your child’s clothes and other belongings are marked clearly with their name. Now that the weather has changed, please ensure that children have appropriate warm clothing (hats, gloves, winter coat).

Fruit

Your child may bring a piece of fruit to eat at playtime, or if you prefer, you may buy fruit in school.  Fruit costs £1 for the week or 20p a day and any profit from this is used to purchase ingredients for cooking activities.

Homework

Children in Year 1 are not required to do homework (apart from reading) but from time to time you may be asked, via your child, to contribute to classroom displays or help them with a specific topic we are covering in class.  Alongside this letter you will have a topic web to see what we are covering in class this term.  If your child completes any work with you at home or during the holidays then it is always lovely to see and to share with the rest of the class.

Headlice

Headlice are a recurrent problem in all schools.  Please check your child’s hair regularly to help us tackle the problem.

We understand from time to time that you may need another adult to collect your child from school.

Please could you inform the office of any changes as and when they arise. Please note that a phone call will be made home if you have not informed us of a change to collection. The safety of your child is paramount.
