Zip Wires and River Pollution!

4th Jan 2022

Dosbarth Newgale were a very busy class in the autumn term.

Zip Lines

As part of our whole school science topic we learned all about the friction associated with zip lines. We spent a fun morning at Heatherton having a go on their amazing zip line and, just before half term, show cased our experiment at the whole school science fair.

In language we learned how to write a formal letter and also how to construct an explanation text. Our maths skills were put to the test learning about addition and subtraction as well as conducting some interesting surveys and drawing graphs.

The River Cleddau and River Pollution

The second part of the term saw us learning all about the river in Haverfordwest as well as looking at pollution. We started the topic with a 6 mile walk along the Western Cleddau looking at wildlife, buildings and trying to spot any signs of pollution.

In language we wrote newspaper reports about river pollution and did some superb poetry work using 'The Lost Words' as inspiration.

In maths we looked at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 as well as develpoing our problem solving skills.
