Potions

4th Mar 2020

Year 3 and 4 started this topic by looking at safety labels and understanding their meanings.

They have been busy making potions, reading instructions and learning about capacity.

They have become experts on solids, liquids and gases and sorting these into a Venn diagram. They thoroughly enjoyed developing their observation skills when working with custard and the semi-solid properties of cornflour, a colloid.

In language, they have written simile poems about their potion. They then wrote cue cards, learnt their poem with sign actions and recorded this on the iPad using their oracy skills.

They have created their own potion bottle out of clay and evaluated this on HWB.

They have worked in teams to create a timeline about anaesthetics discoveries.

The children have been creating a bank of questions that they would like to ask a local anaesthetist.

The children have really enjoyed this topic.

Mrs Dyer, Mr Davies and Mrs Arnold.
