SCHOOL RE-OPENS FROM MONDAY 29TH JUNE FOR GROUPS OF PUPILS FOR 4 WEEKS

19th Jun 2020

Dear Families,
Re-opening of Fenton School Monday 29th June
Since the announcement that schools in Wales were to re-open for some pupil groups we have been busy repurposing our school to ensure that we are able to accommodate groups of up to 8 children in class bubbles without exceeding the restricted capacity, (all schools have been capped at 30%).
To achieve this, we have reorganised the indoor learning environment to create greater spaces to enable staff and children to follow the WG's social distancing practices.
We will be re-purposing our Nursery and After School spaces for Key Worker children when they are not in the class bubble with their teachers.
From Monday 29th June Fenton School will reopen to pupils in Reception - Year 6 classes (PCC have stated that provision will not be allowed for nursery age children).
Families who have indicated that they would like their child/children to return to school for 'check-in, catch up' sessions will be contacted and notified of the allocated week (4 days) that their child/children can attend. We have tried to organise this into family and friendship groups if possible. A week will last for 4 days as the 5th day is for deep cleaning before the groups change over.
For those families who are undecided, we have allocated some spare spaces but parents will need to notify the class teachers fairly quickly.
You will be aware that unions are still in discussion with WG regarding the end of summer term date, however, we are hoping that it will remain the same (24th July) – this will allow 4 weeks of sessions for the children.
Over recent weeks all staff have worked within the cluster to support hubs and distance learning. This co-operative approach is ongoing and a separate safety information sheet for families has been prepared at a cluster level for consistency across our schools.
We will share any updates from WG and PCC with you, and upload any key information onto our website and on School Dojo.
From Monday 22nd June, we have childcare arrangements for vulnerable children and children of essential key workers, (who do not have alternative provision). PCC Booking System closed yesterday and any requests for childcare will now be made directly to the school. Please message myself, Mrs Andrews, on Dojo or telephone the school office where requirements will be assessed. We have limited space available, and you will appreciate that we wish to ensure that all children have opportunities to return to school to see their friends and teachers, to support their emotional wellbeing and distance learning.
Staff will continue to support children at home with online learning, this will be more limited than it was previously as teachers are also working with children in class bubbles.
Thank you for your continued support during this transition period.
Stay safe and well,
Mrs. J Andrews
